About me

Lucas Birycki is a licensed physiotherapist in Dubai specializing in chronic pain treatment, fascia therapy, and nervous system regulation. His work has helped thousands of patients regain mobility, resolve pain, and improve their quality of life.

He uses a hands-on, holistic approach, combining advanced manual therapy techniques for fascia with methods that support the nervous system.

Fascial Manipulation®

Fascial Manipulation® is a hands-on physiotherapy treatment model developed by the legendary Italian physiotherapist Luigi Stecco. At the Stecco Institute in Padova, Luigi Stecco, together with his children, Dr. Antonio Stecco and Dr. Carla Stecco, teach how treating the fascia – the body’s connective tissue – plays a key role in managing chronic pain.

Fascia is a vast and complex network. It separates skin from muscles, muscles from bones, and even surrounds organs. Fascia allows smooth force transmission, energy-efficient movement, and provides the body’s sense of position and movement (proprioception).

When fascia becomes rigid or densified, these essential functions are disrupted, which can lead to chronic pain lasting months or even decades. The most common causes of fascia restriction are surgery, injury, and overuse.

Once rigidity develops, it can affect other areas of the body – for example, a sprained ankle from years ago can lead to severe low back pain, even if the ankle itself now feels only minor discomfort.

Fascial Manipulation® offers a diagnostic and evidence-based approach to effectively treat chronic pain, restore mobility, and improve overall function. It is particularly effective for patients with post-surgical pain, old injuries, repetitive strain, and long-standing musculoskeletal conditions.

Functional Neurology

Functional Neurology is a hands-on physiotherapy approach that looks at the nervous system as a whole. Injuries, surgeries, or everyday stress can leave certain areas of the body oversensitized, causing the body to use extra energy to “protect” them. This often places other joints and muscles at a disadvantage, increasing the risk of pain and injury.

Using neurological reflexes testing and careful assessment, Functional Neurology helps identify the true root cause of a patient’s problem. For example, a C-section scar could be contributing to chronic knee pain, or an old rib fracture could be causing long-term neck pain. By applying precise, targeted stimuli, the nervous system can be guided to restore normal function, reduce pain, and improve movement and overall well-being.

Training

Many patients are told by medical professionals that movement is dangerous — hearing phrases like “Did you really need that run?” or “Squats ruined your knees.” This often creates a fear of movement, which can make pain worse and slow recovery. A vast portion of patients are fully capable of engaging in physical activity, but because of the fear instilled by medical professionals, they refrain from doing so.

At the same time, other patients are made to feel guilty for not taking steps toward recovery through exercise, even though they genuinely want to. Their obstacle isn’t a lack of motivation — it’s that their bodies simply won’t allow them to move without consequences. When they try to push through, they often experience flare-ups that set them back for days. For some people living with chronic pain, even a 15-minute walk can be an outstanding achievement.

With the right education, guidance, and progression, physical activity is not only safe but also one of the most effective ways to reduce pain, rebuild strength, and restore confidence in the body. The key lies in understanding both the body and the underlying problem well enough to prevent aggravations and steadily move closer to the patient’s goals.
